Focus on playgrounds at Untreusee and the Bismarck Tower

The city of Hof is planning to design new playgrounds at Untreusee and the Bismarck Tower.

The city of Hof is planning to design new playgrounds at Untreusee and the Bismarck Tower and has enlisted the support of the Hof Academy of Social Pedagogy. With the help of trainee educators, the ideas and wishes of children, parents and professionals were collected in order to create a needs-based environment.

The results of the surveys will also be presented to the public from April 29 to May 3. The students of the Fachakademie Hof have put together a varied supporting program with play and craft activities for children and families. Creative hands-on activities will also be held at the Untreusee children's playground from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3 from 3 to 6 pm. At the Bismarck Tower children's playground there will also be a variety of play activities for young Hofer children from Tuesday, April 30 until Friday, May 3. In addition, on the occasion of the public holiday on May 1st, both playgrounds will be hosting playground parties with face painting, exercise activities and surprises.

The permanent deputy and head of training, Elisabeth Wilczek, and senior teacher Werner Köppel developed an innovative approach to capture the opinions of the various user groups. A social space analysis and surveys using car photography, interviews, surveys of key people and site visits with children opened up a variety of perspectives.

The results of these surveys were presented on July 19, 2023 to Klaus Wulf, then head of the Schools, Youth, Social Affairs and Sport department, Christoph Grzesiak, head of the Green Spaces department and youth worker Janina Dill. Not only were specific design proposals made, but important aspects such as safety, challenges for children and the needs of visitors were also taken into account.

The playground campaigns are made possible thanks to the generous support of the Hof Hospital Foundation. Janina Dill, youth welfare officer for the city of Hof, expresses her gratitude: "We are very pleased with the commitment of the Hospitalstiftung Hof, which enables us to present the results of our surveys to the public in a creative way. Their generous support helps us to create a vibrant and needs-based environment for our young Hof residents."
